Implementation: 5 Steps to Success
Commitment
Management needs to demonstrate ongoing commitment to, and participation in the program. A Program Coordinator needs to be appointed with sufficient authority and resources to ensure the success of the program. Support from Trade Union representatives and other appropriate staff within the organization are important to the success of the program.
Pre-Program Analysis
This is the research activity undertaken before the Program Design Stage to determine the linkages between existing policies, procedures and practices of the organization and the EAP program to be introduced.
Program Design
The Design Stage of the program tailors the program to the specific needs of the organization. The launch, promotion, training and service delivery aspects of the program are designed to meet the needs of the organization and to compliment other human resource activities and services provided within the organization.
Training & Prevention
Training in relation to EAP, employee briefings and awareness, management and union training, and ongoing comprehensive training plans. Preventative services complement and extend the benefits derived from an EAP by advising on organizational methods to prevent personal or work related problems through consultation and by actively promoting Employees' health, wellness and personal development.
Service Provision
The basic requirements are:
- Provision of short to medium term therapy
- Voluntary and confidential access to services
- Provision of a broad range of psychological, financial and legal advice services
- Counselors who are fully qualified and experienced, registered Psychologists and Social Workers.
- Provision of services to all eligible persons including persons with disabilities, non-English speaking persons and persons with special needs
